Blakang Mati is the former name of Sentosa. The ‘rock’ refers to the northwestern tip Sentosa. Fort Siloso was constructed to protect the New Harbour (now known as Keppel Harbour). During WW2, it was part of Singapore’s coastal defence Today, the is a military museum and it is the only complete fort in Singapore.

View of the Southern Islands of Singapore i.e. Pulau Tekukur, St John’s Island, Sisters’ Island, the Singapore Strait, Pulau Sebarok, Pulau Bukom, Pulau Semakau. Guide will engage participants and explained the past and present use of some these islands.

Highlight significant exhibits – Fall of Singapore, Keeping Singapore Safe, Prisoners of War, The Occupation Years, Special Ops Force 136 (Major General Lim Bo Seng is commemorated through a monument erected at Esplanade Park).

Garden of Wartime Staples |
Today, we have ready access to a myriad of food choices. But without the lessons learned and the spirit of survival from the war, we would not be as well-off as we are today. Learn about how people ate during the war due to scarcity of staples such as rice, oil, sugar, salt. Learn about different spices and hersbs and how these were used to flavour the staple tapioca and sweet potato dishes.

Life of A Soldier |
Fort Siloso was manned by soldiers from the British Royal Artillery and the Singapore Artillery Corps. Some of the amenities for soldiers to live and work at the fort were barracks, mess, bungalows and underground complex.

Surrender Chamber |
An immersive show that uses light, sound and video to guide participants through the Japanese Occupation, the Allied forces counter-attack and the end of war through 7 zones. The highlight of the chamber is the waxwork that shows the formal Japanese surrender to the British in 1945.
